Taiwan Trip – Taipei & Yilan County

Hello! I just got back from a 10 day trip to Taiwan a week ago with my entire immediate family and my two future sister-in-laws, and I will have to say that this was the BEST trip I’ve ever taken to Taiwan. Being [mainly] Taiwanese, I’ve been to Taiwan many times in my life and I even lived there when I was around 2 or 3 for a VERY short time, but I either don’t remember or haven’t ever seen and done the things I got to do this time around. I have so many pictures and stuff to write about my trip that I’m going to break it up into sections.

The first day we were there, hardly counted because we landed in Taipei around 9 pm and then got to the hotel around 11 pm. Needless to say, we were exhausted from the 14hr flight. So we grabbed some grub and passed out.

Early the next morning my parents hired a driver and van to take us out to Yilan (pronounced EELAHN). There we visited the Lanyang Museum:

Here we learned about the Kavalan people (Taiwanese aborigine), from which my maternal grandfather came from.

We also went to the Mister Brown Coffee Cafe which is at the top of a mountain. I didn’t take pictures of the actual place, but I got a picture of the view from the parking lot:

Our last stop was the Kavalan Whiskey Distillery:

We got to see the whole process of making whiskey, did a whiskey tasting, and bought quite a bit of whiskey. I remember taking more pictures, but they must have all been on Snapchat and I failed to save them. 😦

After the Kavalan Whiskey tour, we went back to Taipei and straight to Shilin Night Market. Unfortunately, between the nonstopĀ traveling and jetlag, my body freaked out and I got the worst stomach ache and had to leave (w/o eating any of the delicious food) to go back to the hotel almost immediately. That and my husband was starting to feel claustrophobic. My older brother and his fiance stayed later than the rest of us to enjoy some food and shopping.

I’ll be back with more Taiwan trip fun, but I’ll be dispersing beauty posts in between. šŸ™‚ Hope you guys enjoyed this post!
