Hello! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, and for those you stateside, hope your Memorial Day weekend was great. If you’re just jumping in, this is going to be my last travel post on my recent Taiwan trip (to see post 1, 2, and 3 here). This was the last leg of the trip and we stayed at the Regent Hotel. This hotel is SUPER nice and very English friendly, which was nice for me and my husband.

Our first night back in Taipei we got back pretty late so we just grabbed the remainder of our bags from the hotel (they were holding them for us while we trekked around on the train) and passed out (actually my brothers went and got MOS Burger, but I passed out). The next morning, we had breakfast at the hotel hung around for a bit and went to the electronics market (a place where you can get inexpensive electronic goods), but we went a little too early and everything was still closed. So we headed over to Taipei 101 to do some shopping and grabbed lunch.

It was pretty poor timing because we were getting Din Tai Fung (a famous soup dumpling restaurant), but we got there at the same time as a marathon was ending at Taipei 101. The wait was well over an hour, but the food was worth it. Plus we got to walk around buy some snacks souvenirs and grab some boba. After lunch, we walked back to the hotel via the underground mall and did a lot more shopping. I bought a bunch of fun socks. That night we went to Taipei Main Station to meet up with a long-time family friend for dinner. Since we were over there, I picked up a bunch of sheet masks that were on sale at the drug store, picked up a Shu Uemura lash curler (no longer sold in the US), and more food souvenirs.

The next day we headed over to Shifen to see the waterfall.

The hike to the waterfall was pretty intense because it was like 100% and SUPER humid (it actually started to rain on us when we were leaving), but the views were extremely pretty and we got to get some fresh aiyu drinks. Once again we were on suspension bridges and there was lots of creepy crawlies so I ran for my dear life across the bridges.

Once we had finished walking around we went to the Shifen Old Street, where you can send off floating lanterns (which I used to do all the time as a child) and see the slowest train go by (I even took selfies with it as it approached).

It was really fun, but then we headed back to the hotel to get lunch (MOS Burger), shower and relax for a bit before we met up with my mom’s cousin for dinner.

The next morning was super nice. My mom, myself and my two future sister-in-laws had spa appointments, while the guys went to go get their hair cut. The spa at the Regent was GLORIOUS.

We each had our own private spa room with a steam shower (not pictured). I started off with a steam shower, sat by the window and had a welcome tea. Then the massage therapist came in and gave me a foot massage. After that, I had a deep tissue massage. I finished with a tub soak with REALLY nice bath salts, and had an array appetizers, dessert, and tea while soaking in the tub. (Sorry the pics are crappy, I only had my cell and was on Snapchat).

We packed our bags (because we were leaving that night) and then headed down to Tamsui. We visited the first church in Taiwan and walked around at the shoreline, snacked at the food carts, and I might have bought an Angels Food Cake for the place ride… While the shoreline was pretty, that area isn’t as well maintain and it smelled soo bad. I usually get used to smells, but I straight up could barely handle it.

After this, we headed back to the hotel (my youngest brother was staying an extra day so we hung out in his room), walked to grab some dinner and then headed to the airport. 14 hours later and we were back in CA.
