2019 Mom Blog Challenge: January – Self Care + 2019 Goals

So I decided along with a group of awesome moms to take part in the 2019 Mom Blog Challenge created and hosted by Bonnie from Have A Kid They Said. She’s hilarious and awesome, so go check out her blog and Instagram (@haveakidtheysaid), and join us if you’re a fellow momma blogger.

January’s topic is Self Care + 2019 Goals.

I will say that one of my goals for 2019 is to take better care of myself. Since having a baby, I have this serious need to do everything myself and I’m definitely wearing thin. I have SERIOUS control issues. I feel like I need to be with him 24/7. When people are trying to help and will take him to watch him for a bit so I can nap. I just lie there wondering what my baby is doing. It’s a real problem. It’s not that I don’t trust people, I just literally want him to be near all the time. 😓 So definitely one of my goals for 2019 is to not be such a control freak and let people help me. I honestly have such an amazing support system around me. Even though my last post was rather whiny towards the hubs (I was literally about to collapse from exhaustion at that point), he really is amazing and tries his hardest to do everything he can. He just needs like 3x more sleep than I do to function, and he doesn’t tend offer help. He likes to wait for me to ask and I’m bad at asking for help. My parents have also been around a lot to help as much as possible and watch him so we can run errands without the baby. I just need to learn to take advantage of that support system better.

Another goal is to get out more. I got stuck on bedrest at like week 14 (or something like that) and then because Little was a preemie and it’s flu season, so we didn’t get out much basically all of 2018. I can’t wait for the weather to warm up and we can get out! I want to bring Little Man to the Long Beach Aquarium, San Diego Zoo, the beach, and so many other places.

My last goal for 2019 is to DECLUTTER. A huge part of my everyday stress is the fact that we live in complete chaos. I trip over stuff all the time. It really not ideal for life with a kid. We went from living in essentially a mansion (I was living in my grandmother’s house after she passed for a year while my uncle figured out what he wanted to do with it), to living in a 900sq ft house. Don’t get me wrong I am SOOO grateful to even be staying here (we’re living rent-free at my aunt’s ranch), but I had this problem of, well when our house is done, maybe I’ll have space for this again so I don’t want to get rid of it. I just need to let it go. Toss my old pre-pregnancy clothes (I fit in them fine, I just don’t care for the styles anymore). Start getting rid of some purses/clutches. Toss shoes I’m never gonna wear again (hello, 5in stilettos! I’m talking about you). Sort through my craft stuff. This one is going to be the hardest. I LOVE my crafting supplies. They are handy and will continue to be once Little is big enough to want to do crafts. However, I have picked up too many crafting hobbies and I need to figure out which ones I want to continue and which ones I want to take a break from until I have more space again.

Anyway, what are you goals for 2019? Do you want to jump in on this Mommy Blog Challenge? If so let me know, or check out Bonnie’s blog (link at the beginning of the post).
