So I needed to pick up a new jar of Drink of H2O because I gave my cousin the other one that I just recently purchased, so I thought I’d try out the Shape Tape and Brighter Days.
Shape Tape – I was SUPER disappointed in this product considering how much people have raved about this. First of all, this was the wrong color (that would be my fault). It was really really pale, though, which is weird because I use the shade up for foundation… 2nd it was SOOO dry. It FEELS chalky to blend out and if you don’t work quickly, it’s really hard to blend out. It probably would have worked much better with a wet beauty blender, but I’m a firm believer in not HAVING to use one specific method of application. The coverage is medium at best, but I can’t get over how dry it is. It was a HUGE dud for me. I’ll stick to my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer & my Laura Mercier Secret Concealer.
Brighter Days – I was really excited about this at first. It has a GORGEOUS dewy finish. Perfect for those makeup free days. I would have swatched it, but you wouldn’t really have seen anything because it’s pretty subtle. My only complaint is it’s supposed to be a moisturizer, but it’s not moisturizing at all. I have to use a different moisturizer first before applying this. It’s not bad, but if they’re going to brand it as a moisturizer, it really should do some moisturizing. Not sure who they were trying to market to when they created this, but if you’re naturally oily, the sheen is going to be too much with your natural oils, and if you’re dry the pigment will pick up on your dry spots. So I highly recommend using your own trusty moisturizer underneath, or if you’re oily to maybe brush on a little bit of powder after.
Anyone else tried these? Am I the only one disappointed with these? I feel bad because I typically LOVE all things Tarte, but I feel like, lately, they’re constantly pushing out new products to keep trendy rather than taking the time to really put in time and effort to develop and perfect their new products. I would much rather have a company that REALLY tries to give us the best they can instead of just churning out new things 24/7.
